In 1981, Philip Tennyson, a young writer from Oregon, lived on the road in a make-shift camper van, promoting his car business satire, Getting Screwed with a low-budget public speaking tour. In Florida, he came across Walter Casey Jones, a spry 108-year-old, who was driving his dilapidated motor home around the USA, passionately proselytizing one-on-one for his longevity prescriptions.

Enchanted, Tennyson soon formed a partnership with the crusty old-timer and spent the next eighteen months traveling beside him, nightly tape-recording events from his itinerant long life, and daily coaching him on motivational lecturing. He turned 109. He was ready! They conducted 97 public performances of LIFE AT 109 coast-to-coast, and appeared on network television (including Johnny Carson). Walter Casey Jones’ notoriety skyrocketed. Yet tragically, six weeks after turning 110 (gaining “super-centenarian” status) Jones was asphyxiated in a motor home propane accident.

The Walter Casey Jones autobiography was crafted between 2019 and 2024 from Tennyson’s 40-year-old interview recordings of the centenarian. 110 Years Positively on My Own was completed in January, 2024. This astounding book is now ready for publication.
